House Rules & Etiquette

Rules for Dogs and Dog Owners

  • You'll find a door hanger in your room. Please use it to indicate whether your dog is in the room
  • If your dog does not like being left alone in the room, we ask that you limit outings without your dog to shorter periods of time and not leave your dog alone in the outdoor area

House Rules
The Aldiana Club Hochkönig is committed to complying with the Upper Austrian state law on dog ownership to ensure that:

  • People and animals are not endangered by the dog
  • People and animals are not disturbed beyond a reasonable limit
  • The dog cannot roam unsupervised in public places or on private property.

The dog owner
  • must, in all cases, be able to provide proof of valid dog liability insurance and confirmation that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies
  • must be able to present proof of competence in certain cases
  • is fully liable
  • is responsible for the dog’s behavior at all times
  • must know how sociable their dog is

The dog
  • must be kept on a leash and/or wear a muzzle throughout the hotel grounds.
  • Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Dogo Argentinos, American Pit Bull Terriers, and Tosa Inus, as well as any crossbreeds among them, must be kept on a leash and/or wear a muzzle in public areas. This applies regardless of the dog’s size or weight.
  • Only non-aggressive dogs are permitted. An aggressive dog may not be accommodated. A dog is considered aggressive if, based on specific facts, it can be assumed to pose an increased risk to humans and animals.
  • In any case, a dog is considered conspicuous if it exhibits aggressive behavior without having been attacked or provoked itself, thereby posing a threat to humans or animals. Examples of this may include threateningly jumping at people or chasing animals.
  • In any case, a dog is considered problematic if it has seriously injured a person or an animal by biting without having been attacked itself, or has repeatedly endangered people without having been attacked itself
  • The Salzburg Dog Ownership Act classifies dogs as large or small according to the 40/20 rule. A dog is considered large if, when fully grown, it has a height at the withers of at least 40 cm or a weight of at least 20 kg. This determination is made during a visit to the veterinarian.
